Shopping Cart vs. WebShop
Releases before Websydian 3.1a included the Shopping Cart
module. The Shopping Cart module implemented a Web-based shopping
cart as seen on many web sites that allow users to order goods or
services.
The WebShop module includes extended shopping cart patterns
which add additional features and functionality:
- Items organized in a Category Structure
- GUI administration interface
- Generic Internet Payment Server interface
Please refer to the Enterprise WebShop
Developer documentation for more information about the WebShop
module.
Existing users of the Shopping Cart module as well as new users
of the WebShop module should be aware of the following:
- Users who have bought a license for the Shopping Cart module
can upgrade that license to Enterprise WebShop Developer for
free.
- For design reasons the shopping cart in the new WebShop pattern
is not based on the old Shopping Cart module. This means that
existing applications based on the Shopping Cart module can not be
upgraded to the WebShop pattern.
- The WsyShop group model uses the Plex
Business Fundamental Pattern library models BSTRUCTURE and
BSUPPORT from CA.
- As of Websydian 3.1a the Shopping Cart module is no longer
maintained and will not be included with the product.
